Latest Updates from Our Project:

Address Lock, Production Status & Wurt
over 4 years ago – Thu, Sep 05, 2019 at 02:28:35 AM

Hey everyone! We're starting to feel pretty certain that our September shipping estimate is good, so we're  about to lock down addresses! If you have moved recently, you should head to Backerkit to change your address so we don't end up shipping your pledge to an incorrect address. We'll be locking down the addresses on Tuesday, September 10th.

After that, you can still contact us and we can change it manually if needed, we of course just need to know before we ship out the pledge in question.

Gowak & The Crone coated with Black Ink

We have received the first wave of metal (It's now split up into 3 waves, not 4 as first planned) and we're very happy with everything! Chris Nicholls is busy packing wave 2 which should go out within a couple of days. Wave 3 is set to be finished by the end of next week.

We have already received more than half of all the resin (Add-ons), and Christopher Taylor is working on the remaining Add-ons along with the Cauldron and Barrel. We expect that the remaining resin will be done next week.

Leopold, coated with Black Ink

As we have mentioned before, we can't make any promises on the shipping yet (Only estimates), as we're not doing the casting ourselves and the packages containing the miniatures are being shipped from the UK to Denmark, so delays can still happen.  So it's still only an estimate, but we feel that everything is running smoothly and we don't expect a lot of bumps on the road!

 Wurt Kerter, Woodcutter

Deep in the dark forest outside of Dunkeldorf lives a man who isn't quite who he says he is. The townsfolk of Dunkeldorf know him as Wurt Kerter, a woodcutter who recently took up residence in the forest. A mysterious man who appears to enjoy solitude and living a simple life. They have only seen him in the town a couple of times and people are already starting to whisper in the corners that the man is undoubtedly hiding something or maybe even hiding from someone...

It certainly didn't help with the rumour-mongering that a band of 3 grim looking mercenary types, led by a man with a large scar running across his face, had recently gone around in Dunkeldorf asking if anyone had seen a man matching the woodcutter's appereance. The men had left the town shortly after, and was said to venture into the Dunkel Forest with haste

We'll return with a new update in around 2 weeks time again and hopefully all the casting will be done by then and we'll be able to start shipping out some Dunkeldorf miniatures not long after!

Have a great day :) - Nicki & Nana

The Noble Pledge & Production Pictures
over 4 years ago – Mon, Aug 19, 2019 at 01:36:28 AM

Time for the latest Dunkeldorf update. We have a few pictures of how the production is moving along and we wanted to show you an overview of what exactly you'll be getting with The Noble Pledge once your package arrives!

The Production

Everything is moving forward with the production. Chris Nicholls has been spending most of his time working on Dunkeldorf these last few weeks, and he expects to have everything cast up in the first week of September. So a total of 17 standard miniatures, 4 sprues of accessories and 1 ogre (Add-on).

An army of Leopold Ogre Bouncers!

We have not yet received the first wave from Chris, we expect it to arrive soon though. When shipping a package with 50 kg of metal miniatures, it has to be packed rather careful as the weight might end up crushing the miniatures. So they have to be packed into a bunch of smaller sturdy boxes within the box, along with a lot of bubblewrap. But a system has been worked out and we're certain that they'll survive the trip from UK to Denmark!

The Barrel & Cauldron

These 2 "Accessories" have turned out to be a bit of a headache for us, as they're large and massive. The cauldron in metal would weigh almost twice as much as a single miniature. And at the amount we need of each barrel and cauldron, these 2 accessories alone would end up weighing around 30 kg. Nicholls strongly advised us to change the material on these two to resin. And after having talked it over, it's clear that he has a very good point.

As they're fairly straight forward to cast in resin, we don't expect that changing them to resin would cause a delay, as Christopher Taylor can actually cast these up in resin, close to the same speed as it would take to get them done in metal.

With everything above in mind, we have decided to change the material on the cauldron and barrel to resin - We can almost guarantee that you won't be disappointed in the resin (We certainly aren't).

A bunch of Bertha, Stella, Günther & Erika miniatures!

Delivery Estimate

Our last estimate was that we could start shipping out in September. Chris Nicholls expects to be finished with the metal within the first week of September - This is the same case with Christopher Taylor and the resin, despite the sausage barrel and cauldron switch. Which means that shipping in September still holds!

But as we said in the last update, this is an estimate, things can go wrong and cause a delay and when we're not doing the production ourselves, we can't make any promises. But we feel that things are moving along very well - And Nana and myself will do everything we can to get all the pledges shipped out as fast as possible (As fast as we can without making mistakes!) right after receiving the final package.

In the next update we'll most likely start preparing for the final address lock. Remember that you can log into Backerkit and change it, if you have moved :)

The Noble Pledge

We thought you would like to see exactly what you're getting with the Noble Pledge. Most of this stuff is shown in resin, because as you know we're still waiting for all the metal to arrive.

The Noble Pledge Contains

  • 17 Miniatures
  • 4 Large Accessories
  • 3 Animals
  • 4 (6) Weapons (We're still not sure if we can get the extras on the Weapon Sprue)
  • 7 Accessories

Sitting with all of this in front of us, it sure feels like a lot of stuff, we hope you all feel the same way! And we can't wait for you to see all of it in person soon :-D

Nana didn't have time to finish painting up the latest stuff on her table. But we'll post a new update in 2 weeks with the stuff she has finished painting (Wurt will certainly be ready by then, and most likely some other things too).

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Gowak the Butcher and Resin Stuff!
almost 5 years ago – Fri, Aug 02, 2019 at 03:36:12 AM

For this update Nana has painted up Gowak, his sausages and his cute "little" pet. We also have some pictures of some of the add-ons cast up in resin. But before we dive into the pictures, we wanted to update you on the current status of the production.

Chris Nicholls has finished Wave 2 of the metal production - We're looking at around 4-5 waves. With wave 2 done that's about half of all the metal miniatures (Not counting accessories), including Leopold. Work on wave 3 has begun and we expect the wave 1 package to arrive here in Denmark next week (Figuring out the logistics of sending hundreds of kilos of metal miniatures from UK to Denmark took us a bit of extra time)

Christopher Taylor estimates that the resin will be ready in about 3 weeks from now - So it looks like the resin will be done a bit earlier than the metal.

We can't make any promises yet on when shipping starts, but we estimate that we can start shipping out pledges in September (Keeping the delay to under 2 months) - We'll have a more precise estimate as more stuff is cast up. Remember that you can continue to update your address in Backerkit in case you've moved!

Gowak the Butcher

Gowak hasn't had the best of luck in Dunkeldorf. First of all he decided to name his butcher shop ”Dwarven Wieners & Meats” much to the confusion of the Dunkeldorfians, as many believed that the dwarf was selling actual dwarf meat.

Gowak now realizes that the name might be slightly confusing, but due to his dwarven stubbornness he refuses to change the name of his shop. Unfortunately for Gowak, the townsfolk of Dunkeldorf have made a habit out of mocking and making fun of the poor dwarf.

Usually Gowak manages to stay "relatively" calm when he’s being mocked. But ever since the ”Blood Moon” has continued to linger in the night sky above Dunkeldorf, Gowak hasn’t been able to sleep and his patience with the townsfolk has finally run out.

And when he was recently approached by the Burgomeister's manservant Linus Witzner, with a request coming directly from Herman Geizhals, he finally figured out how to exact his revenge on the Dunkeldorfians who have mocked him day in and day out for years. Gowak would make sure that he got the last laugh…

Dunkeldorf's Notice Board & Road Signs

Below you can see how the Dunkeldorf Notice Board looks combined with the "Parchments" add-on.

And here's the Road Signs with the pointers glued on (There's a few variants included in the set so you can choose which pointers to use)

And finally here's a little diorama we're currently working on - You can probably guess which character is missing in it ;)

Thanks again to all of you for your understanding in regards to the delay, your kind comments mean the world to us and we really hope that you all feel that the delay will have been worth the wait once you receive your pledges!

We'll post a new update with more stuff in a couple of weeks as usual :)

Painted Wilhelm and July Status
almost 5 years ago – Wed, Jul 17, 2019 at 11:36:46 PM

Hey everyone! Just a quick update from us to let you know how everything is progressing and to show you the painted version of Wilhelm von Struttendorf!

As we're in Mid July and the casting of the miniatures have not yet finished, it's safe for us to say that we'll be running into a delay. We're doing everything we can to keep the delay to a minimum, but as we're not personally doing the casting - That aspect is out of our hands, but we're talking with our casters on a regular basis to be kept up to speed on the progress. Meanwhile everything else is prepared on our end until the miniatures arrive!

Posters have arrived, and they're just great. Stickers and sneak peek artwork for our next Dunkeldorf Kickstarter (2020) are ready for all the Early Birds and all the bases are bagged and ready to go! The mugs for random Noble backers already arrived a while back.

The Posters for those who purchased the Poster Add-on and stickers for the Early Birds!
The Posters for those who purchased the Poster Add-on and stickers for the Early Birds!

For those of you who have backed other Kickstarters in the past, you have probably experienced delays before and know how everything works. But we wanted to quickly explain about it for those of you who have backed the Dunkeldorf Kickstarter as your first one.

As a creator you set an "Estimated Shipping Date", when launching your Kickstarter. As a first time creator such as us, it's really difficult to guess the amount of backers you'll get and in our case we had underestimated how many we would end up with. Which is awesome, but also creates a bit of pressure to deliver in time.

The higher amount of backers mean that the production numbers are also higher than first anticipated, which is the reason for the delay. Instead of getting cast up...say.. 250 of each miniature, we're now looking at around 500 of each.

Since this was our first campaign and everything is new to us, we had early on decided only to do resin for add-ons - Since resin is a lot more time consuming to cast up than metal. So thankfully we expect both the resin and metal production to be finished around the same time.

Where are we with the production?

Chris Nicholls from Macrocosm has just sent me the picture below - That's a part of about 41 kg of Dunkeldorf Miniatures getting ready to be shipped to us (What we refer to as Wave 1 of the production).

Once these babies arrive, Nana and myself will bag them up immediately so we're ready for when Wave 2 arrives.

Christopher Taylor also sent me a picture, this is the first time we're showing the weapons and parchments cast up as these were delayed quite a bit due to the "lost package" previously mentioned (Don't mind Littleton's stool in the picture)

These are master copies that will be used for the production moulds. Weapons will be cast up in metal while the parchments will be in resin.

We haven't gotten an exact estimate on when everything will be cast up, but things are definitely moving forward and all production moulds, with the exception of a few ones for resin, are ready.

Wilhelm von Struttendorf

Nana has finished painting up another Dunkeldorfian - Wilhelm von Struttendorf, the spoiled noble brat with a bit of a drinking problem (Unless it's not a problem if you only drink the best of the best?).

She painted Wilhelm to match the version she painted of Ludmilla. We'll get a picture of both mom and son at some point and we'll also show a painted version of Gowak in the next update.

Giveaway Winners!

Yes, winners, plural! We recently ran a giveaway on Facebook for Gowak with his barrel of sausages or The Crone with her Cauldron. We have just randomly picked a winner for each of them earlier today!

Paul Allen was the first to be picked and will be getting an exclusive resin copy of Gowak. (The last winner was a Paul as well, coincidence or sinister interference by Herman?! He did always like the name Paul, after all)

The second winner is.. Richard Bark! Who'll soon have the honor of being in the company of this lovely old lady pictured below.

Both of them are being shipped out to you today, as we already have your addresses from Backerkit!

That's it for this update, we'll continue to keep you updated on a regular basis. And if you have any concerns or questions, just ask away as always (We'll still give a heads up when we're about to ship the pledges, so any address changes can be sorted out)

Have a great Wednesday! :)

Production Pictures, Painted Miniatures & More!
almost 5 years ago – Mon, Jul 01, 2019 at 11:44:10 AM

Hear ye, hear ye! Time for the latest Dunkeldorf update! This one contains a BUNCH of juicy pictures.

I actually forgot to include this one in the update last time. At that time it was the 10 Dunkeldorf miniatures that Nana had painted so far. Since then she has actually painted two more, Floria & Wilhelm, a total of 12!

 Painted Miniatures

The Dunkeldorf Pets - Bertha's Cat "Bull", Reiner's Pug "Brunnhilde" and Ludmilla's Cat "Colette"

Nana just finished painting up Floria (She also finished Wilhelm, but we'll show him in the next update)

Resin Masters

Leopold and Wurt, keep in mind that Leopold is not on a base, so he'll be even taller compared to Wurt, once he's on a base!

Gowak, Crone, Linus, Wurt & Reiner

The Dunkeldorf Accessories & Pets - The weapons are not included, as they were in the last package that went missing for a while. Thankfully it turned up, but they didn't get moulded up in the same batch as everything else.

As mentioned in the last update, we'll be doing another giveaway - It's not included in this update, but later this week we'll post about it on our facebook page  https://www.facebook.com/DunkeldorfMiniatures/

The Production

Chris Nicholls sent us some pictures of the production and it's awesome to get a glimpse into his workshop.

First off we have Leopold, Chris could get 7 of him into one mould compared to the usual 10-12 standard miniatures, he is an ogre after all!

In the right picture the top 3 copies are heat resistant resin copies, while the bottom 3 are metal casts.

So many grumpy Gowak's all at once!

In the near future when you get your hands on this fine woman below, she would greatly prefer if you could wash your filthy peasant hands before touching her. (Her words, not mine, I promise!)

Shipping, Backerkit and Late Pledges

First a word on the shipping estimate. We don't have a whole lot to tell you all yet. Our estimate was that we would ship pledges out late July - We're starting to doubt that we'll be able to stick to that, but we can't say anything with 100% certainty yet - In the next update we'll know more. If we do run into delays, we'll do everything we can to keep it to a minimum and we'll take care of any address changes and so on once we're about to ship your pledges out! (So don't worry if you're moving soon. Even if we have locked the addresses in Backerkit, just let us know and we'll change it manually)

We're only missing a few surveys in Backerkit now, even though we're over the deadline (Herman is not pleased...) - If you did miss it though, you can still jump in and fill it out. If you're unsure about anything, just contact us and we'll get it worked out :)

We'll be closing down for Late Pledges July 7, this Sunday - This will be the last chance to get the Dunkeldorf miniatures at the Kickstarter discount along with all the freebies. Later this year they'll be available for purchase in our webshop www.kinggames.dk though!

That's it for this time. Have a nice week everybody!
